things carried in buckets-a work in perpetual progress
- water
- frogs from the creek
- jumps
- fresh warm cow’s milk
- rocks
- four and half gallons
- a kitten swimming ———to be licked by sibs
- tools
- clack, slosh-clack and other sounds
- watery stink from house gutters
- half rotten leaves
- worms and maple saplings,
- angles of sunshine
- swinging shadows of boys walking, leaning away from
- the weight of this experiment
- wet gray black fur
- white tail dripping
- a boy’s expectation of nothing in particular.
- nothing but air
- tools
- hammers and crowbars up an ladder, to a roof in Oak Park Illinois
- debris, splintered wood from 1920,
- my thoughts about then,
- and them, then, long ago…
- watery stink from house gutters
- half rotten leaves
- worms and maple saplings, so far from earth…
- frogs a few days older
- vertical jumps,
- successful escapes,
- rebounding laughter, on two boy’s hurried, counter balanced, walk home to the creek…
- a human hand plunged
- white milk and fur
- a life saving resuce…
- warm milk that can’t be drunk by humans so it goes to cats and down the drain
- sand
- cement, dry, and wet
- paint red, from a ladder, spilled on my brother’s house
- white, and my reflection
- clay, dry then wet
- milk powder, dry then wet, and
- a hungry calf’s nose and head
- empty, a lightness with which to run
- amphibian scented Holmes County Ohio air.
- four and half gallons
- a kitten swimming — will belicked by sibs and cuzins
- gray black fur sneezing…
